Welcome to this weeks’ weekend fishing prediction where you can find updates from our Captains and bait shop experts.

CAPTAIN GRIFFIN DEANS of Slot Machine Fishing Charters has had a great week on the water. Catching snook, after snook with shiners and shrimp, he’s landing juveniles and their elders up to thirty-four inches.

There have been plenty of redfish and sheepshead to be found out there as well. Not quite as many black drums this week, but there is plenty of fish roaming the bay, and you’re guaranteed to see them (and hopefully catch them) while you’re out! If not, stop by our bait shop or give Griffin a call. He’s catching big fish cast after cast and can show you how!

CAPTAIN ERIK STEVENS at Fish Like Us looks forward to the east winds this weekend, providing calm, clear inshore waters for kayakers most of the holiday.

A combination of pier fishing and kayak charters has landed several large sheepsheads, snapper, snook, redfish, trout, ladyfish, black drum, and even a few nice sized spadefish. There are plenty of pinfish and greenbacks available, and we continue to use shrimp as a staple.

Bridge and dock fishing has landed us similar species and given us a view of the beautiful eagle rays roaming through. Warmer water temperatures have brought the manatees back to inland estuaries, and the kayak advantage of proximity to these creatures never gets old.

Because it’s a holiday people will be on the water and beaches in droves. Please remain aware, drink plenty of water, and stay safe out there.

WEATHER predictions show strong winds from the east Friday and part of Saturday with calm winds and ideal temperatures until Monday. Winds will shift from the North come Monday, bringing cooler temperatures with it and a mid-week cold snap.

THE BAIT SHOP continues to stay busy, and increasing crowds for snowbird season may require that you get there early to get your bait.

We have 12 Fathom Lures on sale all month for $1 off or buy-two get one free. In addition to our monthly special we also have the following weekend specials running:

*Frozen Shrimp: 1 for $4, 2 for $6, or 4 for $10
*Pinfish Chum: buy-one-get-one, ($2 each)
*Wormgear pushbutton rods: $5 off, includes ‘kiddo bags’ with frozen shrimp and squid bait.

BAIT SHOP UPDATE:
Pompano are in the bay! Anglers are seeing them skip across the water and are beginning to catch small ones, which means the big ones are behind them. Please stop into our shop and visit with Marlene Monday through Friday to learn how to find these delicious food fish.

Despite the multitude of events happening this weekend, we invite you to consider spending time with your friends and family on the water. Fishing is a great way to connect, communicate, and relax from the stresses of life.

We wish you beautiful weather, time with your community, and a great weekend of fishing. We have everything you need and will be here when you head out to the water.

Catch more fish!
